Autograph letter signed, dated : Leipzig, [n.d., 25 December 1830], to Herr [Gottlieb] Müller, [n.d., 1830 Dec. 25].

Expressing regret if he has offended Müller, his teacher, by what he has done, explaining that Dr. [Heinrich] Dorn suggested he write something for orchestra--the result was the overture--, that he now realizes how unjust it was not to have shown the overture to Müller before its recent performance, asking Müller to forgive him his juvenile error, adding that he is sure nobody in the audience knew his name and so the whole affair will pass unnoticed, as deserved, etc.
